Lifepixel published a tutorial on how to convert your Canon T3 / 1100D into an infrared camera. The fact is , there are several way to produce infrared photos. The safest way is to use special infrared filter like the Hoya RM-72 filter. But you have to use tripod when using these filter because it’s so dark, block the light from entering the sensor ( lower shutter speed).
The other way is to remove the hot-mirror filter inside the camera. The advantage of using this method is that we don’t have to worry about shutter-speed. Just shoot like you normally would. That’s good because we can shoot portrait or sports photos, but with surreal look from infrared effects.

Warning ! this is a high risk operation. I won’t recommend you to do it on your own. Read the tutorial at LifePixel website

The Canon T3 / 1100D accepts Canon EF and EF-S mount lenses which is great because the camera will support wide range of lenses that have autofocusing capability.
Canon EF-S is newer and designed for digital SLR that use APS-C sensor. It’s usually smaller and lighter than their EF counterparts. Canon EF lenses have been around for years and were originally used with film cameras. The Canon T3 /1100D support these ‘older’ EF lenses so Canon T3 owners get the best of both worlds. This is one of the advantages that Canon has over Nikon’s entry-level DSLRs.

To give a better protection for your Canon T3, get a screen protector that able to protect camera’s LCD from scratch, dirt, dust and even your own fingerprints. Pick a protector that has solid material but also clear/transparent enough to provide better view (and accurate) on images on LCD. Avoid product that unable to preserver original color tones.

There’s some good screen protector product on Amazon but i like Lexerd‘s better.
